The Californian’s Sea of Love EP
Self-released June 1, 2010
Sea of Love is the type of EP California has been thirsting for, and with the release coming on June first – Sea of Love is destined to be your soundtrack for summer. The Californian is a Los Angeles based 5-piece that has been gaining speed. They’re music has obvious surf-rock influences without being in-your-face “we’re trying to be The Beach Boys” annoyances that so many Southern-California bands have. Basically, The Californian is exactly what we need right now. Then again, what else should anyone expect when the band consists of members of The Henry Clay People, The Bird and The Bee, and Phantom Planet? Sea of Love is both beautiful and haunting, which (in my opinion) is the best way for an album to be.
With surf-rock guitars, unique percussion, toe-tapping beats, unforgettable melodies, and incredible vocals Sea of Love will get you hooked on The Californian, I guarantee it. Don’t take my word for it, though. Go check The Californian out at their EP release show June 1 at Spaceland (such a dreamy line-up too):
