Saturday at The Lab: Recap

This past Saturday was the third of fourth week of the Live Music Series at The Lab. Once again, The Lab had an additional event going on, but this time it was in a separate section than the Live Music Series event. A yo-yo event distracted a large portion of our crowd, but everything turned out just fine. I mean, who doesn’t love watching yo-yo tricks?

Wait. Think. Fast. kicked things off. This was the first week that the first band arrived on time. The band showed up ready to rock the Orange County hipster hang out, and brought their usual decorated mic stand. After Wait. Think. Fast., Rumspringa played, and they brought a pretty great crowd. A lot of donations to Pablove were accumulated during their set. Everyone at IPGB is head-over-heels for this band. Joey’s and Cecillia’s vocals are incredible. Despite the fact the band only had one mic stand they still ruled. It’s hard not to be smitten with this group. By the way, how amazing if the song “Sway”? It’s still stuck in my head from Saturday.

Next up, White Arrows. I had heard a lot about this band, so I had pretty high expectations. I’m glad to say that they completely matched those expectations. White Arrows even played an amazing cover of Bruce Springsteen’s “I’m On Fire”. Bruce Springsteen represents my childhood in a nutshell, and I was proud that White Arrows did the song such justice. So… I guess I finally like a cover song. *Sigh*

Last, but certainly not least, Vanaprasta. This band is so much fun. IPGB has a pretty big crush on this band too, thanks to our friend Seraphina at BeatCrave.com. Their live show is absolutely incredible and makes for such a grand time. Plus “Color of Sin” is one of the catchiest tunes coming out of Los Angeles. Vanaprasta has a residency coming up, so stay tuned to be able to catch them four times.

All in all, the day was quite fun. This Saturday is the last day of the series and we’ll have Modern Time Machines, Wet & Reckless, and Casxio playing. Remember, it’s FREE and ALL AGES with 100% of donations going to Pablove. That fish bowl ain’t for the musicians, folks!
