Lauren Beitel for TAXI CDC

Here at IPGB we not only spread the word about music related news and events. We also celebrate those doing great things in the art world in general. Photographer Lauren Beitel will be showing some of her incredible work at the Taxi CDC event tonight. If you like free food, free drinks, and 40% off of really adorable clothing then you’re attendance is required.

Lauren Beitel studied in San Francisco and is back to show us what tricks she has up her sleeves. She is ridiculously talented, and we’re very excited about this show.

Invisible Path at Commonwealth Lounge

Orange County based drone trio Invisible Path will be bringing their set to Commonwealth Lounge on Sunday, November 27. Invisible Path has a sound-scape vibe best listened to with eyes closed. The band will take you on a ride through the cosmos, and I guarantee it’s a ride you’re going to want to take repeatedly.

Also performing is Los Angeles based musician Grant C’de Baca (aka Tigerbitch). Tigerbitch’s live set is always changing, but always good. C’de Baca really knows his stuff. Basically, this is the perfect show to experience after a long weekend Christmas shopping. So grab a drink this Sunday and head out to Commonwealth Lounge in Fullerton.

Invisible Path and Tigerbitch

at Commonwealth Lounge in Fullerton, CA

PS You can get some free jams by both Invisible Path and Tigerbitch by visiting their Bandcamp pages. Pretty neat, huh?

The Franks at Pehrspace

Los Angeles 3-piece will be rocking Pehrspace this Friday night. Easter Everyday presents a night of terrific music for the low-low price of $5. The Dining Dead, Wet Power, and Summer Twins will be joining our friends The Franks for this incredible show. The night also incluces NBA legend Larry Bird and DJ sets by Dave Muller. Don’t miss out!

PISCES

Known for being the incredibly talented and entertaining front-woman of The Happy Hollows, Sarah Negahdari has started a solo project under the name PISCES. The name is a perfect fit this princess of Silverlake. Above is a homemade music video for her song “VooDoo”. It’s been a constant play here at IPGB headquarters. We’re stoked to see what Sarah has up her sleeve as PISCES continues to grow.

Yellow Red Sparks

Tonight at Hotel Cafe, you have a chance to lend support to three of the most talented and kindest musicians I have ever met. Yellow Red Sparks will be playing a showcase for labels and other industry people at 9pm sharp.

Yellow Red Sparks is a folk-rock band led by the smooth vocals of Josh Hanson. Their lyrics and music are both heart-breaking and beautiful. These guys manage to make me fall in love with them every time I see them play.

Tonight is a really special night for the band. I urge you, new fans and old fans, please come out to Hotel Cafe tonight and support these guys. Yellow Red Sparks deserves nothing but the best.

The Happy Hollows at Satellite

[Photo by Ben Irwin of Pinpoint]

This Thursday, The Happy Hollows are back at The Satellite with a new drummer and an incredible group of friends in tow. Sharing the stage is Incan Abraham, The Soft Hands, One Trick Pony, and a special secret guest. The show starts a little early (view set times below). The entire night is going to be pretty rad, so be sure to get there early. The Happy Hollows are one of the greatest live bands in Los Angeles. I mean, holy crap. Don’t you remember that review I wrote last year?

It’s only $8 to get in, so there really isn’t an excuse to miss, what might possibly be, the best night of your life. The Satellite is located at 1717 Silverlake Blvd, and is always 21+. (Sorry kids, you’ll get there someday.)  Hope to see you all there!

George Glass: “Welcome Home”

[

Los Angeles’s George Glass has recently released this video for their song “Welcome Home”. The song is off the band’s self-titled EP, which is available on Bandcamp. The music video features everyone’s favorite Silverlake babe, Sarah Negadhari. It’s really fitting that George Glass decided to go with a “Silent Movie” vibe for the music video, with “Welcome Home” as the soundtrack, since the song was recently placed in the upcoming indie film Letting Go.

George Glass will be playing a show with Radars to the Sky this Saturday. See details below!

Jaxart and KXLU at The Echo

This Friday, everyone’s favorite 7″ label and everyone’s favorite radio station (sorry, KCRW) get together to host an incredible night of music. On September 16th, head down to The Echo to hang out with Jaxart and KXLU to enjoy a night of impeccable music.

Polls, Pek Pek, NOW (formerly 60 Watt Kid), and The Californian will be rocking the stage. The best part is: the show is FREE if you’re 21+ and only $7 is you’re 18-20. Don’t want to pay the $7 to see your new favorite band? If you purchase any of the band’s vinyl from Origami Vinyl you get in free with your receipt. Sometimes it pays off to show your support.

Hope to see you all there! More info here.

RACES

Los Angeles band RACES will be rounding the track, so-to-speak, this January when they release their debut album off Frenchkiss. The band formerly known as Black Jesus has been making waves since the escaped the heat of the San Fernando Valley back in ’09 with an impromptu performance.

RACES released a 7″ off Jaxart Records with tracks “Big Broom” and “Living Cruel & Rude”. The band’s wistful sound is able to stand out strong against so many indie bands attempting a similar style. I mean, they did nab the attention of Frenchkiss, after all.

Don’t miss this six-piece live in action. RACES might steal your heart, but they’ll also remind you that you have a soul. Something I know I need reminding of every now and then.

RACES plays:

Wednesday, September 14

at El Rey with The Joy Formidable and Telekenesis

Monday, September 19

at Bardot with Ivy and Duniven (FREE with RSVP)
