Above is the official video for the RACES hit single “Big Broom” from the forth coming album Year of the Witch. The band’s music is set around the theme of renewal. “Big Broom” holds a mystic sense of hope within its despairing tone. The video mimics the tone of the song in a unique way. By filling a room with RACES members with colorful balloons and confetti, the video captures the feeling of being trapped while still keeping a sense of prospect.

RACES will be releasing their full length LP Year of the Witch March 27th, 2012 off Frenchkiss Records. Also, be on the look out for when you can catch RACES play live at SXSW.

The Glendale based artist known as Gangi is back with its latest cinematic expression, “Outside Ones”. Matt Gangi last came to the LA scene when he and co-collaborator Lyle Nesse relocated from New York to release “A”. This time around, Matt is tag teaming with Eric Chramosta to bring us “Gesture Is”, which we can only hope will be out this coming Spring.

Like the song itself, the video for “Outside Ones”, which can be seen above, is intelligently thought out from beginning to end. The song combines pop beats with a mystical energy carried within beautifully crafted guitar riffs. Matt Gangi’s woozy vocals executes a dreamy melody. The black and white imagery marries perfectly with the build up and lapse of the music as the phantom creatures chase and capture a young girl.

The team at IPGB headquarters awaits on bended knee pleading for more like the above from Gangi. For now, we’ll have to put this video along with the songs on their Bandcamp page on repeat.

Tonight is the second night of their residency and is presented by our pals Web In Front. Seasons is highly underrated in Los Angeles, and we’re glad they finally gained a little recognition. Below is a free download of their song “Monday Nights”, from their EP Autumn.

Autumn was released the first night of their residency. The 5 song EP was produced by Raymond Richards and mastered by Mark Chalecki. As with every Seasons EP, the band is able to capture the mood and energy of the time of year in which the EP was named. Seasons is a truly artistic band, and we can’t wait to see what they do next.

Each week the band will be performing each of their EPs in its entirety, and will be changing The Echo’s decor to match the essence of the EP their performing. The IPGB crew will definitely be living at The Echo on Monday nights this month. Hope to see you there!

The show is taking place on December 17 at Moustache Bar, and is for ages 18 and over.

As someone who works as a music supervisor, I find this video especially awesome. It was uploaded by polyphonique on Youtube. The song syncs perfectly with scenes from the 80′s aerobics film Perfect (pun intended), which features John Travolta and Jamie Lee Curtis. I don’t know about you, but this video is now imprinted in my mind every time I play “Round and Round”. Enjoy!

The first Tuesday of December is quickly approaching which means IPGB is back at Ella Street Social Club. I know I say this every month, but this line-up is ridiculously good. Ross McLeron and the World Radiant, The Greencarts, Pale Tourist, and Holy Tentacles will be taking the stage at our favorite Southwest venue. The show kicks off at 9pm sharp and is absolutely free. Ella Street Social Club has great drink specials, so donate the dollars you save to the incredible musicians entertaining you.

Opening the night is Holy Tentacles. A band I’ve been relentlessly trying to get to play my shows at Ella Street all year. The dudes in this band are so much fun, and so rad. Holy Tentacles’s music holds a high energy level, and is the perfect way to kick off this Tuesday show.

Ross McLeron and I met way back in 2007 when he was part of Southern Belle. Their album Hurry Up and Thrill Me is still one of my most listened to records. McLeron’s an incredible musician and song writer, and I’m very pleased he decided to jump on board for this show. His vocals are deep and is melodies are fantastic. Don’t expect Ross to sound like he did in the Southern Belle days, because he doesn’t. This new sound is full of layers and melodic chord progressions. It’s pretty incredible you Portlanders will get to see him for free.

Pale Tourist is a quartet that I have recently come across, and have recently fallen madly in love with. Pale Tourist holds both dark tones and vibrancy in their music. Go get some free downloads on their bandcamp page, and then catch their set next Tuesday. You’ll love them too. I’m sure of it.

Finally, closing out the night is The Greencarts. A band brought to us by Ross McLeron. The Greencarts consists of Sam Greenspan and Michael Cathcart (get it?) and shares its name with the locally made, naturally bio-degradable shopping cart company.

Mezzanine Owls is finally back with a brand new 7-inch. The 7-inch was released on our favorite Los Angeles based label, JAXART on October 11th, and features the track “Obstacle”, which you can digitally download on Pretty Much Amazing. Mezzanine Owls are one of Los Angeles’s most loved bands, and it’s really exciting to hear a new release from them. JAXART will only be selling 250 copies of this 7-inch, so get it before it’s too late. This limited edition vinyl will make the perfect Christmas gift for your local hipster. I mean, what Silverlake cool kid doesn’t love Mezzanine Owls?
